Furloughs (Home Assignments)

Ah yes, the joys of furloughs. Getting excited for all the think we have missed so much, like Big Macs, snow, smooth roads, toy stores, TV, electricity and enough water. Planning all the fun things we will do and the family/friends we will be awkward with until we remember that we played with them before. Getting used to a new school and making friends to last the year or so we will be in the US.

Watching Mom and Dad packing up the apartment and talk about going back to Haiti has brought back to many memories.

  1. Trying to remember all the names of the family we have not see for several years
  2. Sitting in the car as we drive for HOURS to get to all the supporting churches wedged in between siblings, slide projectors, deputation supplies and things to occupy us for those long hours on the road.
  3. Getting to play with all that snow!
  4. Being reminded that people remember me "when you were this big"
  5. Hugs from lots of strangers (after all who can remember all those family members ;0})

And that is just to name a few. . .
